Lino Top Bedside Table

A birch plywood case on a recessed plinth with one drawer at the top and an open niche below. The top is matt olive furniture linoleum, bonded to the plywood, with the layered edge left showing.

Linoleum is warm to the touch and quiet when you put a glass down. It is also softer than lacquer, so a heavy lamp base with a sharp edge can leave a dent; put a felt pad under it.

Care

The linoleum top takes a damp cloth and mild soap; avoid solvents and anything abrasive. Linoleum can show a faint yellow cast when it first leaves its packaging (called drying-room film); it fades in daylight over a few weeks. Wipe the birch with a damp, well-wrung cloth and dry it.
